Tylko Hokej (Ice-Hockey – First and Foremost) is a non-governmental organization created in order to promote ice-hockey in Kraków (Cracow, Poland). We want to demonstrate that the sport can be practiced not only on a professional but also on an amateur level and popularize it as a great pastime.  

There are several teams in Kraków that give children and adults the opportunity to try their hand at ice-hockey.

Children can enrol in an ice-hockey school run by MKS Cracovia sport club and later continue their careers in successive age groups. The most determined will be finally given the opportunity to join the ranks of a current Polish senior champion MKS Cracovia.

Girls and women have several possibilities to choose from. The youngest learn the basis of ice-hockey together with boys in the ice-hockey school. Teenagers and adult women may join KS Cracovia ice-hockey team that organizes trainings for beginner and advanced players and plays in the Polish National Women’s Hockey League. Moreover, women are welcome to take part in practices and matches organized by various amateur groups.

Hockey enthusiasts who either do not want to or cannot practice ice-hockey professionally can play in the Żubry (Bisons) amateur team that practices regularly and participates in amateur tournaments and a league. For those who want to play occasionally, irregular matches are organized.

Apart from ice-hockey promotion, our organization aims at raising funds and securing non-financial aid for the above mentioned groups. Ice-hockey is a rather expensive sport – renting an ice rink and buying hockey equipment are two prerequisites that many people may find impossible to secure. For that reason, we try to collect funds that would enable children and adults to have fun with hockey without draining their pockets. 

Why ice-hockey? The reason is simple: Ice-hockey is a fascinating sport that can be practiced by people of all ages and skills. It is primarily great fun, a pastime full of motion and thinking but most importantly - an extraordinary social experience. ICE-HOCKEY GIVES YOU THE OPPORTUNITY TO WIND DOWN AND FORGET ABOUT EVERYDAY TROUBLES AND ROUTINE IN A CIRCLE OF PEOPLE WHO WOULD HARDLY HAVE THE CHANCE TO MEET IN OTHER CIRCUMSTANCES.
